Our Board members include our chairman, Richard Walls, who has an extensive background in management and oil and gas; director Greg Bay with senior management and investment industry experience; director Robert Hodgins with senior management and finance experience; director Johannes Nieuwenburg, with senior management experience; director Carl J. Richard A. Walls

Richard A. Walls - Chairman

Dr. Richard A. Walls has a diversified and broad background throughout the oil and gas industry in Canada and the United States. Most recently he was the President and CEO of Fairquest Energy Limited. Prior to Fairquest, Dr. Walls was the President and CEO of Fairborne Energy Ltd. Prior to Fairborne, Dr. Walls was President and CEO of Canadian Midstream Services Ltd., which was purchased by Duke Energy Field Services (DEFS) in 2001. He has been involved in all aspects of exploration, production, gathering and processing within the oil and gas industry for the past 28 years, and has been responsible for significant oil and gas field discoveries in western Canada and the Texas Gulf Coast. Dr. Walls is a recognized expert on Devonian oil and gas reservoirs in western Canada and the author of numerous articles published in various technical journals.

Dr. Walls was an exploration geologist with Shell Canada Resources and Canadian Hunter Exploration Ltd. during the mid and late 1970's. He has served as Vice-President of Petrosec Exploration Ltd. (1980-1983), President and part owner of Kentex Oil Corporation (1983-1988) and President and part owner of C&W Energy Ltd. (1989-1993). More recently, Dr. Walls was the President & CEO of Pan East Petroleum Corp., which was sold in November 1998 to Poco Petroleums Ltd., and Canadian Midstream Services Ltd.

Dr. Walls has held directorships with several oil and gas companies and is the current Chairman of Fairborne Energy Ltd. He has served as an advisor to Duke Energy Field Services.

Not coincidentally, Dr. Walls was born in Fairborne, Ohio in 1948. He received his B.Sc. from Morehead State University, M. Sc. from the University of North Carolina and Ph.D. from McGill University.

Greg Bay

Greg Bay - President & CEO, Cypress Capital Management Ltd.

Mr. Bay – founding partner and President and CEO of Cypress Capital – is a portfolio manager for various private client accounts and several specialized institutional portfolios including the Enervest Diversified Income Trust. Mr. Bay brings with him over 25 years of experience in the investment industry with emphasis on the oil and gas sector.

Greg began his career in 1980 with Rhodes Denton as a private placements analyst and went on to work as an account executive with Nesbitt Thomson. He then moved to Royal Trust where he worked as a portfolio manager and following that spent four years as the Assistant Vice President of Investments at National Trust. From 1992 to 1998, Greg was a managing partner at M.K. Wong & Associates (now HSBC Asset Management Canada Ltd.) where he specialized in private client and institutional portfolio management.

Mr. Bay also holds director positions with the Mullen Group Income Fund, Lions Gate Hospital Foundation Investment Committee, Priviti Capital Corporation and the University of British Columbia Industry Liaison Board. He has a bachelor of Commerce and Finance degree and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.

Robert Hodgins

Robert Hodgins

Robert B. Hodgins recently retired from an executive role following a career that spanned more than 25 years with several senior Canadian corporations and is an investor and a corporate director.

Most recently, from 2002 to 2004, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of Pengrowth Energy Trust. Beginning in 1998, he was Vice President and Treasurer of Canadian Pacific Limited. Prior to that he was the Chief Financial Officer of TransCanada Pipelines Limited from 1993 to 1998 and held various other senior positions at TransCanada commencing in 1981. Mr. Hodgins is also a trustee of Calpine Power Income Fund a director of Enerflex Systems Ltd. as well as Altagas Income Trust.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the Richard Ivey School of Business and is a Chartered Accountant (Ontario and Alberta).

Johannes J. Nieuwenburg

Johannes J. Nieuwenburg - Chairman, C1 Energy Ltd.

Mr. Nieuwenburg has an extensive background in the oil and gas industry including petroleum engineering, business development, executive management, and corporate governance.

Mr. Nieuwenburg is a General Partner of KERN Partners Ltd., which is a leading independent energy sector private equity firm based in Calgary, Alberta. Previously, Mr. Nieuwenburg was the President and CEO of Petromet Resources Limited from 1998 until this Canadian junior public company was successfully sold in 2001. He served as Vice President, Asset Management for Norcen Energy Resources Limited with responsibilities including worldwide business development, management of an operating division, and the corporate reserves function, until this Canadian senior multinational public company was successfully sold in 1998. Prior thereto, Mr. Nieuwenburg was employed in Canada for seventeen years by Amoco Corporation, an international major oil company, in various engineering and business development positions with increasing responsibility until 1997 when he held the position of General Manager, Business Development for Amoco Energy Group, North America.

Mr. Nieuwenburg serves on the Board of Directors of Verenex Energy Inc. and Rifco Inc., which are publicly traded companies. He also serves on the private company Boards of Directors for Amarone Oil & Gas LTD., Ausra Inc., Medora Resources Inc. and Wave Energy Ltd.

Mr. Nieuwenburg received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1980 and he attended the Executive Development Program at the Western Business School in 1993.

Carl J. Tricoli

Carl J. Tricoli - Managing Director , Denham Capital Management LP

Mr. Tricoli is a Managing Director of Denham Capital Management LP responsible for the firm’s Natural Resources group. Denham Capital is a multi-billion dollar private equity firm focused on the global energy and commodities sectors.

Prior to joining Denham in 2004, Mr. Tricoli served as President of GeosCapital, after serving as Vice President for Enron North America, Managing Director of Koch Producer Services, President of Black Hawk Resources, and Managing Director of Corporate Finance for NationsBank Capital Markets.

Mr. Tricoli is a member of the Board of Directors of Grupo C&C Energia (Barbados) Ltd., Empresa Operadora de Carbon Limitada, Midway United Limited, MV Mining Holdings LLC and Trinity Coal Corporation. Mr. Tricoli received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 1977 and a Master of Business Administration from Cass Business School in London in 1987.

Steve R. VanSickle

Steven R. VanSickle - President & CEO

Mr. VanSickle has an extensive background in the oil and gas industry both in Canada and internationally. He has been involved in exploration, production, strategic planning and portfolio management in the oil and gas industry for the past 20 years.

Mr. VanSickle began his career as an exploration geologist with Amoco Canada in Calgary. In 1992-93 he attended Amoco's Petrophysics training school in Tulsa, Oklahoma and in 1995 was transferred to Houston, where he held a variety of positions including Exploration Coordinator – Trinidad and Exploration Manager – Angola. In January 1998, he joined Pan East Petroleum Corp. which was sold in November 1998. In 1999, he was part of the executive team which founded Canadian Midstream Services Ltd. and was Vice President Business Development until the company was sold to Duke Energy Field Services in the spring of 2001. Mr. VanSickle was the Vice President of Business Development for Duke Energy Field Services in Canada. Prior to its conversion to an income trust, Mr. VanSickle held the position of Senior Vice President, Exploration.

Mr. VanSickle received his B.Sc. in Geology from McMaster University in 1986 and attended the Kellogg Executive Development Program in 1997.

Rodney D. Wimer

Rodney D. Wimer - Managing Director of Mazama Capital Partners LLC

Mr. Rodney D. Wimer is Managing Director of Mazama Capital Partners LLC, a private investment and asset management company. Mr. Wimer serves as a director of Edmonton-based EPCOR Power LP. He is also a general and limited partner and director of Houston-based Fulcrum Power Services LP.

From August 1995 until January 2002, Mr. Wimer worked for Dynegy Inc. in a variety of executive management positions including President of the Commercial Power Division, President & CEO of Dynegy Canada, Inc. and Vice President Business Development of Dynegy Midstream Services.

Prior to his employment with Dynegy, Mr. Wimer spent 14 years with Phillips Petroleum Company in commercial positions of increasing responsibility including Vice President of Marketing, Vice President of International & Utility Gas Sales, and Manager of Coal Marketing. He also was employed by Portland General Electric Company, an investor-owned electric utility, for seven years.

Mr. Wimer is a 1998 graduate of the Stanford University Executive Program and attended the Advanced Management Program of Phillips Petroleum Company. He has an undergraduate degree in earth sciences from Eastern Washington University and completed post-graduate work in geography and earth sciences at Portland State University.
